Brandon Cantu Biography
Most professional poker players can pinpoint the year when they began taking poker seriously. Brandon Cantu can pinpoint the exact date and time – June 29th, 2006 shortly before 5:30pm.
It was then that Cantu had found himself seated at the final table of Event #2 at the World Series of Poker, vying for a the biggest slice of a $3,789,240 prize pool.
In the final hand against Mark Ly that forced his opponent all in, Cantu was the last man left standing with two pair. He walked away with $757,839, his first WSOP bracelet, and the decision to take this game seriously.
At the 2009 World Series of Poker, after several years of big victories in major online poker and land-based tourneys, Cantu snagged his second WSOP bracelet in Event #48, a $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better event. He collected $228,867 for that one.
